## Ingredients

- 300 g Bread flour
- 35 g Granulated sugar
- 5 g Fine salt
- 7 g Instant yeast
- 150 ml Whole milk (Warm)
- 1 Large egg (Room temperature)
- 40 g Unsalted butter (Softened)
- 250 ml Whole milk
- 2 Large egg yolks
- 50 g Granulated sugar
- 18 g Cornstarch
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 15 g Unsalted butter
- 1 Large egg (Beaten with 1 tbsp milk for egg wash)
- 2 tbsp Powdered sugar

## Instructions

1. Mix the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl. Add the warm milk and egg, then mix until a rough dough forms.
2. Knead for 5 minutes. Add the softened butter a little at a time and knead for another 8–10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
3. Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
4. Whisk the egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch in a heat-safe bowl until smooth.
5. Warm the milk in a saucepan until steaming. Slowly whisk it into the yolk mixture, return everything to the pan, and cook over medium-low heat while whisking until thick.
6. Remove from the heat. Stir in the vanilla and butter, cover the surface, and chill until cold.
7. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape each into a smooth bun. Arrange on a lined baking sheet, cover, and proof until puffy.
8. Heat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Brush the buns with egg wash and bake until golden.
9. Transfer the buns to a rack and cool completely before filling.
10. Cut a slit into the side of each cooled bun and pipe in the chilled vanilla cream.
11. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
